UpdateLive |
 |
Here's how it works: |
- You include the UpdateLive utility with your install kit.
- You place the individual files you want kept up to date on your web server. You can also add advertising messages and update history.
- When the customer runs your install kit, you call the UpdateLive utility:
- UpdateLive checks to see if the customer can make an internet connection.
- UpdateLive checks the web site, checks to see which products (if any) need updating - files can be checked by version number, date or size.
- UpdateLive shows the customer what is new and presents your list of changes, then asks if he/she wants to get that update (again this can be done invisibly without asking).
- UpdateLive downloads the appropriate files and displays specified "advertisment" information ( here we show "ad for MetaDraw - this is customisable for your own message ).
- UpdateLive creates a backup directory (to allow reversal of the process).
- UpdateLive copies new files to their destination.
- UpdateLive registers any OCX's if necessary, runs any Exe's if necessary and tells the user everything is ready.
- Customer can cancel updating of a separate product or entire update session.
- UpdateLive displays update log.
- You can also call UpdateLive from your application to check for updates on a periodic basis (every 30 days, etc), or add a Shortcut to the Windows Start Menu to allow the customer to call the UpdateLive utility directly when he or she wants.
- UpdateLive keep itself up-to-date. If there is a new version of UpdateLive on Bennet-Tec`s site, it will be installed automatically.
Keeping Current Counts Bennet-Tec's UpdateLive makes you look sharp!
